Join us to be part of a vibrant Berkshires artists’ community. All levels of artists and photographers are welcome to join, from beginners to professionals, as well as those who appreciate and support art in our world.
SHOWS: We sponsor at least two group art shows each year that give our participating artists exposure and an opportunity to show and sell their work to the community and the numerous tourists who visit our area.
HVAL Summer Juried Show is open to members and non-members. Work submitted must pass the scrutiny of a panel of judges in order to be accepted in the show. The judges also choose the most outstanding works, among those accepted, that merit special awards.
HVAL Summer Member show is open to members only and gives our artists a venue to show the public their most recent works. As in the Juried show, the most outstanding entries are awarded for their excellence.
Small Works show is held during the peak of Fall foliage season most years and gives our artists a venue to show and sell smaller, more affordable works of art.
HVAL has also arranged with a local bank and other local merchant establishments for Members to have solo shows.
WORKSHOPS: Througout the year, HVAL sponsors weekend workshops given by prominent artists from around the world, who offer their expertise in a wide variety of media. Besides oil, watercolor and pastel, some other workshops have included artistic anatomy, fresco painting, pleinair painting, monoprints and collage painting.
Other Member Benefits Include: a quarterly newsletter and an annual member directory. Invitations to attend numerous social events, talks and films about art throughout the year. Reduced workshop and show entry fees. Inclusion of their work on our website’s online gallery.
Painting Holiday Workshops: to Italy and other exciting destinations have been organized at special rates to our members.
HVAL also supports local high school art departments by contributing to their art supply budgets, and runs educational programs, events and workshops. We also partner with non-profit historical societies and art and conservancy associations to sponsor events focusing on art, artists, local history, and our natural resources.
